Approaching a Meaningful 2025-2026 School Year

Reflecting on the years of service in Early Education here on Vashon-Maury Island since 2009, and entering a 2025-2026 school year honoring our very first Klahanie School four students, who will be graduating high school spring 2026, we wanted to extend gratitude to the families trusting their children in our care and nurturing focuses. Although our scheduling changed throughout the years to adapt to community needs presented, our core values and pedagogy of Montessori Antibias daily work of inclusion, kindness, multiage mentoring and celebration of love of learning has continued to be our heartbeat and successes of what we hear from Klahanie School alumni in community, and what they remember and imprints on them of their early learning practice years here.

Thank you Klahanie School families of the past and present for all the years of practicing together, listening and collaborating to find equitable supportive time at Klahanie School for students, families, faculty.

Thank you to present and past faculty who have been in the tides of change of Klahanie School during transitions of growth and pandemic adaptions to finding equitable employment ways for teachers in our island community.

Thank you to students trusting the moments of learning social, emotional, physical, cognitive leaps we experience together inside and outside the classrooms and knowing that our doors and arms are open wide to you always.

Thank you teacher aides for approaching Early Education with such wonder, excitement and passion in your own explorations of the greater world through your mentorship and kindness presences with Klahanie School students.

The photos attached are from our 2009-2010 school year with that first Klahanie class! Thank you for the years celebrating our garden of spectacular young learners, witnessing these fantastic community members grow!
