BLACK LIVES MATTER. LGBTQ LIVES MATTER. INDIGENOUS LIVES MATTER. IMMIGRANT LIVES MATTER. LIVING WITH DISABILITY LIVES MATTER. ASIAN AMERICANS AND PACIFIC ISLANDERS LIVES MATTER. LIVING IN HOMELESSNESS LIVES MATTER. HISPANIC AND LATINX LIVES MATTER.

We acknowledge and recognize that we are on the ancestral lands and traditional home of the sx̌ʷəbabš Coast Salish Native People, the first people of Vashon Island. This land was their home for millennia before Euro-American voyagers and settlers came and they were forcibly removed from these lands and relocated onto neighboring Reservations, including Puyallup, Nisqually, Squaxin Island, and Muckleshoot. Vashon Island is their traditional home and their historical relationship with the land continues today. We honor the island itself and the sx̌ʷəbabš people past and present.

Klahanie School stands in solidarity with the movement for racial and gender justice and equity. We are committed more than ever towards working diligently on a future for our children, our youth, and where all people are treated with respect. We continue to learn, grow and make more conscious, respectful and listening practices for today and everyday moving forward together on our shared ground, Earth.

For parents, please consider links below to begin discussions about race, gender, privilege and equity to support the work we are committed to daily practice through learning, growing and providing in our community. Klahanie School admits students of any race.  Klahanie School does not discriminate against applicants or students on the basis of race, color, religion, ethnic origin or financial abilities.

We look forward to continuing our sustainable commitment to Antibias Montessori Early Education programming for early learner peace practitioners and families.
