Klahanie School is a For Science School. Our school is a Mask-School for Students, Teachers and Visitors/Families: Teachers will wear masks or face shields. Children will wear masks when in small groups of two-three (with WA CDC COVID-19 protocols in spacing, cleaning, hand washing), Circle, transitions, drop-off and pick-up times.
We as a team and board made a decision to serve the needs of the families in our community as best we can by maintaining school open and lock-in our programming as an Essential Workers support space under Childcare. We have decided move forward with September 2020 start time and will not be following the district on phasing based on:
- Our size
- Prepared, hospital level cleaning and facilities protocols based off OSPI and CDC guidelines, can run our school inside spaces with adequate air flow ventilation and class air-purifiers, split class size with the same groups all year as well as 95% of our schooling is outside and in masks.
- We wear and require masks on premises.
- A commitment to serving Montessori Peace and Antibias educational space for youth in our community and families needing support safely during COVID-19.
We will start in September. We will move forward with school and plan for split classes, outside with minimal inside time, and Montessori lessons will continue to be adapted to fit our needs and maintained. Klahanie School 2020-21 calendar will be posted Friday July 24th.
Please refer to our Forms pages with all updated COVID-19 Klahanie School protocols and adjustments. Thank for your help maintaining health in our global communities.
